Hermes Running
Really enjoyed this race as a beginner marathon runner
There were no toilets on the run course. I asked at the turnaround point and they said the pub was shut so couldn’t use their toilet. I used the toilets at HQ but this meant I had to run through the finish and past it (off the course) to access the portaloos. Other than this, I’m really glad I chose this race and would recommend it to friends. I liked the 4-lap format and appreciated being set off 30 mins before the shorter-distance races as it never felt too busy. Also, everyone was very friendly and aid stations were well-stocked at all times.
It was a great marathon, just a tiny too bad we had to do 4 identical loops
Beautiful autumnal run . Lovely atmosphere and good facilities - although club house closed before we had finished the race. Good water stations.
Very good course, although a touch repetitive after running up and down the river 8 times!
Too many people on the course.
The event was well organised, on time, the hydration stations were always well filled.
The route was not good, with 4 there and backs making it extremely challenging and monotonous. The route should’ve been cordoned off as there were too many people walking on the route who did not move when I was running past. The route itself got very narrow at times, which made it difficult to pass when other runners were coming the opposite direction.
Scenic local marathon with PB conditions
A great run with great scenery
The distance on 2 different devices came as 6.6 instead of 6.25 for the 10km.
Some signage issues: too small ( especially as another race was better signposted with timers), no indication of mileage covered or remaining, turning point for 10km was quite congested and then tricky to get water or food as only one table.
Registration was well organised- not enough loos!
Beautiful course, poorly stocked aid stations
Great course and helpful staff. But no Hi5 gels at the aid stations as mentioned in event page and FAQ, and ran out of gummies bears/chews also in last lap. It'd be good to have some healthier options like bananas instead of crisps and pretzels.
As far as value for the money, it seems like race shirts should be included
Email communication was great. I wish there was a speaker or megaphone near start line for updates. Could've also benefitted from more toilets. Lastly, the course was very pretty, but out-n-back repeatedly is grueling for runners. Overall would recommend for the experience
Scenic with a flat route, ideal for beginners
Great Run!
A fantastic event
A well organised event. A lovely almost pancake flat course on the Thames Path.
Could be more marshals.
Directions / marshalling at turnaround could be better. People running back on gravel path and upper path - mixing with the other race. Mostly self governed 2nd lap.
Also got fairly congested with members of pubic towards first k especially for 2nd lap - probably worse for marathoners.
Generally really enjoyable race and setting and would do again.
Well organized, good comms, good drinks / snacks on route
Very nice with a wonderful scenery. Pretty windy and cold, maybe not enough animations on the side of the track
Nice run
suffering main course with beauty on the side
The out and back route is easy to figure out, but on my first go it was confusing for me. Perhaps more and bigger signposts could help, especially for the 10k race.
A great race!
Great views lovely flat route!
Good organisation, at reception to collect race bibs, good hydration stations to have calories, water Electrolytes drink, friendly volunteers, encouragement, nice scenery along Thames, good communication before and during the event, it was great
Finished as 82th marathon and 18th of the year
